Who isn’t qualified

In a recent letter the writer praised Nadine Woodward for posting a video online showing an altercation between a security person and an alleged homeless person in the downtown library. (“Woodward tells it like it is,” June 8)

The writer then went on to explain that back in the day homeless people were called bums. In my mind there are two types of people living on the streets: transients who want to be there and actual homeless who are victims of circumstance. Both deserve compassion and none deserve to be called bums. I understand the problems and don’t have the answers, however I have trouble believing Ms. Woodward does either.

After reading her resume online I fail to find anything that qualifies her to be mayor. She has never been on a neighborhood council or any city or county related commissions. Not a regular at city council meetings and no management experience that I could find. All of a sudden we are to believe she can manage the city of Spokane.

Now, taking a page from the Donald Trump book of governing, she is refusing to talk with reporters from The Inlander because they might be biased. The Inlander is entitled to their opinion and Ms. Woodward is entitled to fair coverage and the readers of The Inlander are entitled to that coverage.

Spokane needs a qualified, experienced mayor I have no idea at this point who that person is but I am confident I know who it isn’t.
