Cooper Kupp says knee a ‘work in progress’ after Rams minicamp
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – A group of reporters swarmed Cooper Kupp on Tuesday following the Rams’ final day of minicamp.
The common question: Will he be ready to go full bore when the Rams start training camp in six weeks?
“I don’t get too far ahead of myself,” said Kupp, who tore his ACL in November against the Seattle Seahawks. “I come in, look at what the week has for me, have a quick discussion about that looks like, and how we’re going to attack it, and then go forward on it.”
Kupp said his knee is still a “work in progress.”
Rams head coach Sean McVay said Kupp has been smart in his recovery, which isn’t always easy for someone as competitive as the former Walter Payton Award winner.
“He’s really doing an excellent job staying right on track, making good progress, and we want it this way, where we’ve got to pull him back because he’s so excited to get back out there,” McVay said. “He wants to return to the competition with his teammates.”
Kupp wore a red no-contact jersey Tuesday as he participated in individual drills and jog-throughs. He spent much of his time off to the side with with trainers helping him rehab.
In 23 games with the Rams, Kupp – a third-round draft pick in 2017 – has totaled 102 catches for 1,435 yards and 11 touchdowns.
