Problems go beyond Trump

After watching an interview with a Trump supporter after the recent Justin Amash town hall, I am not the least bit surprised that she was not aware that there was negative information concerning President Trump.

More than any other moment surrounding this presidency, this was revealing of a problem deeper than the presidency of a corrupt individual. It reveals a corruptness that has infiltrated an entire political party; a corruptness that has infiltrated Fox News specifically and much of the conservative media in general. When Justin Amash stated his position concerning the conduct of President Trump he based that opinion on his reading of the actual Mueller report.

But for me, it is not the numerous incidents of obstruction of justice. What bothers me is the undeniable evidence that the Russian government was successful in interfering in our election, yet the president, the Republican Party and the entirety of conservative media are unwilling to address it.

Even if we can remove this corrupt president via impeachment or defeating him in the upcoming 2020 election, the problem is we will continue to face two-thirds of a triumvirate that only desires to maintain power even if it costs us our democracy.
