Bobcats QB Chris Murray Dismissed From Team

After sitting out the entirety of the 2018 season due to academic ineligibility, Montana State quarterback Chris Murray has been officially dismissed from the Bobcats football team. The MSU’s sports information office confirmed Friday that Murray was unable to restore his eligibility and has left the team. As a 17-year old freshman phenom, Murray took over as the starting quarterback for MSU and played two seasons for the Bobcats. In that time, he accounted for 43 total touchdowns while rushing for over 1,100 yards—the first quarterback in school history to accomplish that until Troy Anderson surpassed that mark in 2018. The former Big Sky Conference Freshman of the Year sat out last season to focus on academics, but did go through spring drills with the team. There has been no word yet as to where Murray is headed this fall. With Murray officially off the team and former starter Troy Anderson switching to defense, the Bobcats are still searching for their head signal caller. Sophomores Tucker Rovig, Casey Bauman and redshirt freshman Ruben Beltran are expected compete for the starting job in the fall. Stay tuned to SWX for continuing coverage of Montana State football.
