Reward grows for wolf poacher

The reward leading to the conviction in the illegal killing of a gray wolf over Memorial Day weekend grew to $10,000 on Tuesday.

The Center for Biological Diversity is offering a $2,500 reward. That’s in addition to the $7,500 Conservation Northwest is already offering.

On May 27, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife biologists noticed that the radio collar of a female wolf was transmitting a mortality signal. A biologist investigated and found a dead wolf on Highway 20 in the Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge, also in Stevens County.

WDFW believes the wolf is a member of the Dirty Shirt pack.

Anyone with information about this wolf killing should contact state law-enforcement agents at the regional Spokane office at (509) 892-1001 or through the 1-877-933-9847 hotline for reporting poaching activity in Washington. Reports to this hotline may be made anonymously.
