Prep notebook: Mt. Spokane’s Niveya Henley goes camping; all-league lacrosse honors

Mt. Spokane sophomore Niveya Henley and Clarkston sophomore Ashlyn Wallace are among six Washington players selected to the adidas Gauntlet All-American Camp in Los Angeles on June 23-26.

Henley and Wallace play club basketball for the Northwest Blazers on the adidas Gauntlet Circuit. The top 50 selected Division 1 prospects from every region of the country on the circuit will have an all-expenses paid trip to participate in the camp with other national-level players.

Other Washington high school players include Chiawana sophomore Talia Von Oelhoffen, Eastlake sophomore Haley Huard, Kennedy Catholic freshman Avery Watkins and King’s freshman Jada Wynn.

Girls hoops all-star game

The 23rd annual Washington/North Idaho All-State basketball games are June 22 at HUB Sports Center in Liberty Lake. Teams from Eastern Washington and North Idaho will face teams from the west side in three classification levels: 3A/2A, 1A and B.

Local players for the 3A/2A roster are junior Brie Holecek (East Valley); junior Hailey Marlow (West Valley); junior Maggie Smith and sophomore Emma Evans (Cheney); and Wallace and junior Mickala Jackson (Clarkston).

The 1A roster includes sophomore Jordyn Goldsmith and junior Macy Luhr of Freeman; juniors Lexie Redell and Jaycee Oliver of Medical Lake; and Colville freshman McKenna Reggear.

Colton’s Clark Vining will coach the B-East team, including his daughter, sophomore Rylee Vining; St. George’s junior Lydia Bergquist and senior Abby Jones; Valley Christian senior Phoebe Trigsted; and Northwest Christian junior Natalie Smith and senior Jordan Rabe.

All-conference lacrosse honors

The Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association (WHSBLA) selected its regional all-conference teams at the end of the season.

Five seniors from area teams made the Region 6 All-Greater Spokane first team: Easton Carter (Central Valley); Caleb Preti and Christian Aldrich (Gonzaga Prep); Matthew Cortner (Ferris); and Joe Schauer (Lewis and Clark).
