Helena Senators Partner With Local Babe Ruth League

Helena Senators baseball is helping train the next generation on the diamond. All of the players on the Senators roster are also coaching for local Babe Ruth squads. Head coach Jon Burnett says Babe Ruth board member Nick Miller, father of junior pitcher Cy Miller, organized the partnership. Burnett says it’s helpful for his guys to teach the on-field skills that the younger players are trying to master and they enjoy bringing the kids into the home team’s dugout for legion games as well. “Those younger Babe Ruth kids kind of get excited about legion and they come to our games and cheer us on. It’s just been a great opportunity for us,” said Burnett. “It’s been really fun, I enjoy it,” said Cy Miller. “And then having the kids in the dugout before the games is kind of fun and they run out on the field with us for the anthem. I think that’s pretty cool.” “It’s great to see the younger generation. They look up to you and try to get some pointers from you and stuff. If you can make a difference in a young kids life, that’s what matters,” said Senators player Zach Spiroff.
