We need a new flag

I agree with Kate Burke that Spokane needs a new flag. Our current “Expo-era” flag is outdated. The flag depicts four stick figures under a sun. Although I think the symbolism of this flag is good, it is more of a banner than a flag.

The people of Spokane have been ignoring our flag since it was made in the 1970s. There is only one copy of this flag, and it hangs in Spokane’s City Hall. I think making a new flag for Spokane is a great idea, and would boost Spokane’s community.

If Spokane does end up making a new flag, I think it should have symbolism of Spokane’s Native American tribe, Children of the Sun.
