CMR’s predictable response

How nice that Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ delayed statement regarding Trump’s tweet (only after being solicited for it by the Spokesman) followed the prescribed GOP talking points regarding the canard of socialism versus capitalism (“President’s ‘personal attacks’ wrong, McMorris Rodgers says,” July 16). That had nothing to do with the issue at hand. That’s another example of moral cowardice and group think. How predictable. And disappointing.

Shame on McMorris Rodgers for staying silent in the first place after this disgraceful and factually incorrect diatribe about four duly elected congresswomen and American citizens. These women are sitting United States members of Congress, they are colleagues of McMorris Rodgers, for God’s sake.

Her initial silence and irrelevant afterthought can only mean one of two things: either she agrees with Trump or she lacks even the modicum of moral courage to denounce the racist and sexist comments from the leader of her party.

Sadly, this isn’t the first time McMorris Rodgers has not demanded even minimal decency on the part of Trump and other members of her Republican Party, nor, I predict, will it be the last.
