After back to back all state seasons with the Hamilton Broncs, just last week Tanner Goligoski made his decision to continue his basketball career in college, signing his letter of intent on Tuesday of this week to suit up for the Battlin’ Bears of Rocky Mountain College.

“I really liked the town of Billings when I went on my visit there and I liked the school,” he said. “I really like their coach so that just kind of made my final decision. My visit just went really well and I can just really see myself playing for that team.” Athletics have deep roots in the Goligoski family. Tanner’s father Jason was an 8th round pick in the 1993 Major League Baseball draft by the White Sox. And of course Tanner’s older sister Taylor was a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year for Hamilton hoops, won a state title there and now is getting ready for her senior season for the Lady Griz - and also helping her little brother throughout the recent recruiting process. “She was giving me a lot of good advice about where do I want to go and where I can see myself playing and just a lot of different factors that she’s helped me out with because of her experience here the U of M, it’s been good.” While playing college basketball was a huge goal for Tanner, so was staying in Montana. Not just to be close to home, but as an avid hunter and fisher the Treasure State has shaped his off-seasons as well. “I really wanted to stay in Montana so I could be close to home and I just love the state of Montana. My dad has a buddy there that fishes and hunts and stuff so I’m hoping that he’ll hook me up. I’m really happy and excited. A lot of hard work has gone into it and finally glad I get to go on to the next level and play college basketball.” And for one basketball season, these Goligoski siblings will each be college basketball players in their home state.
