Kenworth Sales Co. building $15 million facility on the West Plains

Salt Lake City-based Kenworth Sales Co. plans to build a $15 million sales and service facility on the West Plains.

Kenworth Sales Co. filed plans with Spokane County to build a facility of more than 83,000 square feet at 9010 W. Geiger Blvd., which will include truck sales, service and parts departments, a body shop, a warehouse and office space. It will also include a PacLease department for truck leasing and rentals, and fuel sales.

The company intends to move operations and 100 employees from its 44,000-square-foot location in Spokane Valley to the new facility on the West Plains, said Ric Petersen, district manager for Kenworth Sales Co.

“We’re just excited that we are going to have everything under one roof. Where we are at right now, we are kind of scattered around,” he said, adding the Spokane Valley location spans four separate buildings. “This will bring everything together under one roof in one 20-acre parcel.”

Kenworth Sales Co. purchased the site for more than $3 million in January, according to the Spokane County Assessor’s Office.

Idaho Falls-based NBW Architects is designing the facility.

Petersen said Kenworth Sales Co. plans to add an additional 20 employees at the new facility.

Groundbreaking on the facility is anticipated to begin in April with completion slated for May or June 2021.

Kenworth Sales Co. was founded by the Treadway family in 1945 as an “inter-mountain Kenworth truck dealership” under a partnership with Seattle-based Kenworth Truck Co.. It has more than 22 locations in Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Wyoming and Washington.
