Girls soccer: Area players honored on WSSCA all-state team

The Washington State Soccer Coaches Association announced its fall 2018 girls all-state list on Wednesday.

Three area players were named to the 4A first team: Greater Spokane League defensive Most Valuable Player Dori Ames (junior, Central Valley), forward Kailyn Labrosse (senior, CV) and midfielder Chelsea Le (jr., Gonzaga Prep).

GSL offensive MVP Kelsey Crosby (sr., University) was named second team.

Defender Olivia Lauffer (sr., G-Prep) and goalie Ashlynn Eggleston (sr., Mead) were named honorable mention.

St. George’s sophomore midfielder Cambrie Rickard was named 2B/1B MVP.

3A: Honorable mention – D Gracyn Ulias (soph., Mt. Spokane).

2A: First team – MF Chloe Gellhaus (sr., East Valley ); Second team – D Taryn Baxter (sr., EV); Hon. mention – GK Jocelyn Gross (sr., Pullman).

1A: First team – FWD Jessie Thomas (soph., Deer Park), MF Emmy Moore (sr., DP), D Hannah Hodgson (jr., DP); Hon. mention – FWD Lindsay Balkenbush (sr., Freeman), FWD Cydni Lewis (sr., Newport), D Lily Pierce (sr., DP), GK Hannah Plyant (sr., Freeman).

2B/1B: First team – FWD Lydia Bergquist (jr., St. George’s), MF Rickard (soph., St. George’s), MF Maddie Christiansen (sr., St. George’s).

The WSSCA is comprised of Washington state high school and middle school coaches. Players are nominated and voted on by membership.
