GSL girls: Jacinta Buckley’s big night paces Lewis and Clark over Ferris in ‘Rubber Chicken’ matchup
Lewis and Clark 70, Ferris 35: UNLV-bound Jacinta Buckley scored 21 points with 19 rebounds and four steals and the Tigers (12-3, 7-2) handled the Saxons (6-10, 1-9) in the “Rubber Chicken” rivalry at the Arena on Thursday.
LC entered play rated No. 3 in class 4A by the WIAA RPI system. The Tigers are a game behind Central Valley for first in the 4A race. The teams split their series this season.
Kaylee Bishop hit four 3-pointers for 12 points and Anna Reeves added 10 for LC. Mayson Younger led Ferris with 12 points.
Laney Erickson’s 3-pointer drew Ferris to within 12-8 early, but LC reeled off 10 straight points – including a pair of baskets by Dominique Arquette – and the Tigers led 24-11 after the first.
Andie Zylak’s layup just before the horn put LC up 36-20 at intermission.
The lead hit 20 early in the third on a long 3-pointer by Bishop. She added another 3 late in the frame and LC led 53-30 after three.
North Central 74, Rogers 23: Quincy McDeid scored 20 points with three 3-pointers and the Indians (9-7, 4-4) defeated the visiting Pirates (0-14, 0-7).
Kailey Crockett had 14 points and Dakotah Chastain added 13 for North Central, which solidified its hold on second place in the 3A race.
Brooklyn Paul led Rogers with 14 points, including four 3-pointers.
