Girls regionals: Second-seeded East Valley held to season-low points in upset by Washougal

Beyonce Bea scored 22 points and seventh-seeded Washougal upended second-seeded East Valley 52-45 in a 2A state regional matchup at University HS on Saturday.

Washougal (20-4) plays in a state second-round game on Thursday at the Yakima Valley SunDome, while East Valley (19-4) faces a first-round loser-out on Wednesday.

East Valley, which averages over 63 points, was held to a season-low.

“They pressured us pretty good,” East Valley coach Rob Collins said. “We panicked a little bit. We didn’t continue to attack like we normally do.”

Genesis Wilkinson led the Knights with 19 points while Faith Adams added 12.

Clarkston 61, Port Angeles 35: Ashlyn Wallace scored 18 points and the third-seeded Bantams (23-2) beat the sixth-seeded Roughriders (20-4) in a 2A state regional at Richland HS.

Clarkston plays in a state second-round game on Thursday at the SunDome.

AJ Sobotta scored 13 points and Samantha Chatfield added 10 points for the Bantams. Jaida Wood led the Roughriders with 12 points.

St. George’s 54, Ocosta 39: Abby Jones scored 18 points and the 12th-seeded Dragons (16-9) eliminated the 13th-seeded Wildcats (16-7) in a 2B state regional loser-out at West Valley HS.

St. George’s advances to a state first-round loser-out on Wednesday at the Spokane Arena.

Davenport 65, Ilwaco 47: Janaye Wilkie scored 17 points and the Gorillas (21-4) beat the Fishermen (21-3) in a 2B state regional playoff game on Saturday at Mark Morris HS.

Davenport plays in a state second-round game on Thursday. Davenport shot 20 of 28 from the line while Ilwaco made 3 of 20. Ellie Telford added 15 points and Darby Soliday 12 for Davenport. Erika Glenn led Ilwaco with 17 points.

Colton 76, Concordia Christian Academy 41: Emily Schultheis scored 19 points, Dakota Patchen added 16 and the top-seeded Wildcats (19-2) beat the eighth-seeded Hawks (21-4) in a 1B state regional at West Valley HS.

Defending state champ Colton plays in a state second-round game on Thursday at the Arena.

Pomeroy 63, Taholah 32: Sydney Smith scored 26 points and the second-seeded Pirates (19-3) defeated the seventh-seeded Chitwhins (18-5) in a 1B state regional at Richland HS.

Pomeroy plays in a state second-round game on Thursday. Maddy Dixon and Heidi Heytvelt added 12 points apiece for the Pirates. Denise Curleybear led the Chitwhins with 17 points.

Selkirk 51, Puget Sound Adventist 28: Whitney Dawson scored 18 points, Jenna Couch added 17 and the 15th-seeded Rangers (14-9) eliminated the 10th-seeded Sharks (19-5) in a 1B state regional loser-out at Garfield HS.

Selkirk advances to a state first-round loser-out on Wednesday at the Spokane Arena.
