Area basketball roundup: Violet Kapri Morrow leads EWU women to win over Northern Arizona

Violet Kapri Morrow scored 19 points and Eastern Washington;s women held off Northern Arizona 81-76 Saturday at Reese Court.

Morrow scored in double figures for the 26th consecutive game as the Eagles (9-16, 8-8 Big Sky Conference) won their sixth straight over the Lumberjacks (7-17, 5-12).

Alissa Sealby tied her career high with 18 points for EWU. Grace Kirscher added 15 points and Uriah Howard scored 13.

Khiarica Rasheed scored 23 points to lead NAU. Kaleigh Paplow added 18 points, 10 rebounds and five steals.

Idaho 77, Southern Utah 49: Taylor Pierce scored 22 points and the Vandals (16-9, 13-3 Big Sky) shut down the Thunderbirds (6-20, 3-14) in Moscow.

Gina Marxen tallied 15 points and six assists for Idaho, which held SUU to 27.3 percent shooting (15 of 55) from the floor. Mikayla Ferenz and Lizzy Klinker added 10 points apiece as the Vandals won their third straight game.

North Idaho 86, Yakima Valley 81: Heidi Sellman totaled 24 points and nine rebounds and the Cardinals (20-7, 10-5 NWAC) scored 34 points in the fourth quarter to edge the Yaks (16-11, 7-8) in Yakima.

Keara Simpson added 21 points and 16 boards for NIC, which outrebounded YVCC 43-23. Alivia Williams scored 14 points, while Halle Eborall tallied 11 points and five assists.

Men

North Idaho 122, Yakima Valley 72: Alphonso Anderson scored 29 points with 17 rebounds and the Cardinals (26-2, 15-0 NWAC) beat the Yaks (7-20, 4-11) in Yakima.

Nate Pryor totaled 26 points and eight assists as the Cardinals pushed their win streak to 17 games.

RayQuan Evans added 11 points, and Jarod Greene and James Carlson scored 10 points apiece for NIC.

Khyree Armstead led the Yaks with 18 points and eight rebounds.
