Gonzaga-Loyola Marymount: 3 keys to the Bulldogs’ 73-60 victory over the Lions
Key moment
Loyola Marymount pushed the Zags deep into the second half, but Gonzaga put together a decisive run to close out the victory. The Zags rattled off nine unanswered points and 13 of the game’s last 15. Rui Hachimura and Brandon Clarke combined for three field goals and Zach Norvell Jr. hit a clutch 3-pointer with time dwindling on the shot clock to put GU up 69-58.
Offensive MVP
Hachimura was a steady force throughout, even when the Zags were struggling on offense in a first half. The 6-foot-8 forward finished with 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting. He made all eight of his free throw attempts.
Defensive MVP
Clarke didn’t have his best defensive night as LMU’s interior players produced 38 paint points, but the junior forward swatted three shots and hauled down 11 defensive rebounds.
