Future Gonzaga Bulldog Brock Ravet becomes Washington’s all-time leading scorer

Future Gonzaga Bulldog Brock Ravet made history in style Friday.

The Kittitas High senior guard became Washington State’s all-time leading scorer with a tough, hanging reverse layup in the third quarter against Walla Walla Valley Academy at Granger High School.

“I don’t really know what happened,” Ravet said of the play. “I just kind of cut and threw it up and it dropped in.”

The basket moved Ravet ahead of Lance Den Boer, who finished his career at Sunnyside Christian in 2003 with 2,851 career points. Ravet scored 24 points in the Coyotes’ win to bump his career total to 2,857.

Ravet was quickly swarmed by teammates and coaches. He was presented with a poster commemorating the achievement and Den Boer shook Ravet’s hand and posed for pictures during a short ceremony. Den Boer went to Washington State before transferring to Central Washington for his final three seasons.

Ravet is a four-year starter for the Coyotes, coached by his father Tim. Kittitas has won the past two State 2B titles and has only lost this season to St. George’s.

“It’s definitely good to get it out of the way before districts and regionals,” Ravet said. “Now we can focus on winning another state championship.”

Gonzaga assistant coach Tommy Lloyd attended Ravet’s Senior Night game earlier this week. Ravet scored 35 points in an easy win.

“He’s put in a ton of time, especially just starting at a young age playing,” Tim Ravet said. “By the time he hit high school, it felt like he was a junior playing as a freshman.”

Along the way, Ravet developed a step-back jumper that shows up in numerous highlight videos.

“I kind of developed it my freshman year because I was a lot smaller and playing against bigger players, so I had to figure out how to get my shot off,” Ravet said.

Ravet joins Gonzaga Prep’s Anton Watson, Texas forward Drew Timme, Lithuanian small forward Martynas Arlauskas and Russian native Pavel Zakharov in Gonzaga’s 2019 class.
