Basement fire causes damage at residential addiction recovery center in Spokane overnight Saturday

From staff reports

No one was hurt in an electrical fire in the basement of Spokane Addiction Recovery Services on Saturday evening.

Just before 7 p.m. Saturday night an automatic fire alarm went off at the addiction treatment center at 1403 W. Seventh Ave. The 10 residents of the building evacuated quickly and were unharmed.

The Spokane Fire Department arrived within five minutes and were able to put out the fire before it spread up the back of the building, according to a news release.

The fire was contained to the basement, outside back staircase and portions of the main-level flooring. The fire department estimated the damage at $15,000 and ruled the fire an accident.
