Idaho football players’ charge to be amended
The misdemeanor petit theft charge to which University of Idaho football players Christian Elliss and Dalton Cash pleaded not guilty earlier this month will be amended to willful concealment after an agreement was reached between the prosecution and defense, said Moscow Prosecuting Attorney Liz Warner.
Elliss and Cash – a junior linebacker and sophomore tight end, respectively – allegedly tried to steal food from Moscow’s Walmart in March. Under the state’s law, petit theft can be penalized with a maximum fine of $1,000, up to one year in jail or both. Willful concealment carries a maximum penalty of a $1,000 fine, six months in jail or both.
Cash is scheduled for sentencing at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and Elliss is set to be sentenced at 2 p.m. May 8.
Both players will be suspended from the Vandals’ Aug. 31 season opener at Penn State.
