‘Neither Wolf Nor Dog’ returns to Magic Lantern on Monday

At nine weeks, the Magic Lantern’s run of “Neither Wolf Nor Dog” was the longest of any theater in the world.

In honor of what would have been star Dave Bald Eagle’s 100th birthday, the film is returning to the Magic Lantern on Monday for one night only.

“Neither Wolf Nor Dog,” directed by Steven Lewis Simpson, is based on the novel of the same name by Kent Nerburn.

It follows Nerburn (Christopher Sweeney), a white writer, who is invited to an Indian reservation, where he meets Dan (Bald Eagle), who wants Nerburn to write a book based on a box of notes.

Eventually, Nerburn is pulled into a road trip with Dan and his friend Grover (Richard Ray Whitman), who share insight into the Native American culture and experience.

Bald Eagle, who was 95 when the movie was made, died at the age of 97, before the film was released.
