College soccer: 16th-ranked Washington State women turn back Montana to remain undefeated
Makamae Gomera-Stevens scored a pair of first-half goals Friday to ignite 16th-ranked Washington State (6-0-0) to a 3-1 nonconference women’s soccer win over visiting Montana.
Maddy Haro assisted on Gomera-Stevens’ second goal of the night – and third of the season – in the 34th minute.
Haro also assisted on Maegan O’Neill’s goal in the 70th minute, about 7 1/2 minutes after the Grizzlies (1-5-2) cut WSU’s lead to 2-1 on Alexa Coyle’s goal.
WSU outshot Montana 20-7.
Eastern Washington 2, Utah State 0: Saige Lyons scored her first goal of the season and Brooke Dunbar added a second-half score to guide the visiting Eagles (4-3-1) past the Aggies (1-5-0) in Logan, Utah.
Allison Raniere assisted on Lyons’ goal in the 22nd minute. Kelsee Winston had four saves in recording the shutout.
The Eagles have allowed one goal in their last three matches.
