PULLMAN – Washington State is receiving Associated Press Top 25 consideration following Saturday’s 41-19 win over Wyoming at War Memorial Stadium.

The Cougars collected six Top 25 votes in the latest edition of the Top 25 poll, which was released Tuesday this week because of Monday’s game between Florida State and Virginia Tech.

WSU hadn’t received any votes in the preseason AP Top 25, but got seven in the Coaches’ Poll. The Cougars are now getting 11 votes in week two of the Coaches’ Poll.

Four Pac-12 teams are ranked in the AP Top 25 following the first week of the college football season. Washington fell from No. 6 to No. 9 after losing a high-profile season opener to Auburn, Stanford shot from No. 13 to No. 10 after beating San Diego State, USC dropped from No. 15 to No. 17 despite beating UNLV and Oregon moved up one place, from No. 24 to No. 23 after blowing out Bowling Green. Utah is on the brink of a Top 25 spot, leading teams that are receiving votes with 71.

WSU opened the 2017 season at No. 24 in the AP Top 25 and didn’t relinquish its spot in the poll until a loss to Michigan State in the Holiday Bowl. The Cougars peaked at No. 8 in the country before suffering a week seven loss to Cal in Berkeley.

The top 10 teams in the country this week are as such: No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Clemson, No. 3 Georgia, No. 4 Ohio State, No. 5 Wisconsin, No. 6 Oklahoma, No. 7 Auburn, No. 8 Notre Dame, No. 9 UW and No. 10 Stanford.
