Troops from Fairchild to be among those sent to border
Troops from Fairchild Air Force Base will be among those sent to the U.S.-Mexico border, a Fairchild spokesman confirmed Wednesday.
The official did not say how many Fairchild troops would join the mission, which seeks to support U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.
KING 5 reporter Natalie Brand tweeted Wednesday that Joint Base Lewis-McChord had also confirmed it would send personnel.
The overall number of troops has shifted dramatically over the past week, rising from 1,000 a week ago to 8,000 Wednesday, according to statements from the Pentagon.
