Prep slowpitch softball roundup: Mt. Spokane stays one-half game ahead of Mead in race for second in GSL

Mt. Spokane 7, Gonzaga Prep 4: Kaleigh Bussiere notched three hits including a home run and the visiting Wildcats (15-4) topped the Bullpups (5-14) to stay one-half game ahead of Mead for second place in the Greater Spokane League with one game to play. Jersey Young homered and drove in three runs for the Bullpups.

Mead 10, Lewis and Clark 4: Peyton Cushner singled, tripled and homered to drive in four runs and the Panthers (15-5) downed the Tigers (11-8) at Hart Field. Carolyn Johnson hit her 16th and 17th home runs of the season for the Tigers.

Rogers 15, East Valley 14: Destiney Sandbergen led off the bottom of the seventh inning with her second homer of the game to give Rogers (12-7) a one-run win over visiting East Valley (7-12). Abby Brake was 2 for 5 and hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning for East Valley.

Central Valley 21, Shadle Park 7: Madison McVey notched four hits – including two home runs for seven RBIs – and the visiting Bears (11-8) outslugged the Highlanders (1-18). Grace Stumbough added two home runs for the Bears. Bianca Melgar led the Highlanders with two hits and two RBIs.

Ferris 11, North Central 1: Jailyn Strauss drove in three runs and the Saxons (8-11) cruised past the visiting Indians (1-18).
