Unladylike Kate Burke

As a woman who considers herself a feminist, I am appalled and shocked by Kate Burke’s willingness to embrace the crudeness of men (who, by the way, cannot be called “gentlemen”). It saddens me that any woman would want to imitate the degrading aspects of the toxic masculinity of men. Actually, I have never even experienced men using the f-word loud enough to be overheard in a coffee shop or restaurant.

Why lower oneself to the lowest common denominator? Being a councilwoman carries a responsibility, whether or not one cares to acknowledge it, for setting a higher example. What does it say about the image Spokane portrays to everyone who reads our newspaper that we have such foul-mouthed persons in leadership positions? Is this the way Ms. Burke speaks at council meetings? I would sincerely hope not.

I have been proud to live in beautiful Spokane since 1975 but right now, I am resentful and ashamed that she is supposed to represent me. Kate Burke may be a woman but she is no lady!
