Parent company of Advanced Input Systems slated for acquisition

Esterline Technologies Corp., which owns a Coeur d’Alene manufacturer, is being acquired for $4 billion by TransDigm Group Inc.

Bellevue-based Esterline, which has 12,500 employees in 50 locations worldwide, is a specialty manufacturer with customers primarily in the aerospace and defense markets. The deal announced by the companies Wednesday is subject to approvals from Esterline’s shareholders and regulators.

Esterline’s Coeur d’Alene subsidiary, Advanced Input Systems, makes high-end control panels for the medical, defense, security and gaming industries. In addition, Coeur d’Alene is the headquarters for Esterline Interface Technologies, a global group of companies.

TransDigm Group is headquartered in Cleveland. The company makes aircraft components used on commercial and military aircraft.

TransDigm will purchase outstanding shares of Esterline stock for $122.50 per share. The sale is expected to be final next year.
