Whitworth University announces winners of recent campus Top Chef competition
This annual student competition showcases foods from different countries and cultures.
Two awards are given, a People’s Choice and a Judges’ Choice. Entrées are evaluated on presentation, knowledge, creativity, taste and skill. Judging took place Nov. 11 in the Hixson Union Building Dining Hall.
This year, there were 10 teams that prepared foods from America (meatloaf lasagna and mac and cheese) and France (quiche Lorraine) to Thailand (sticky rice) and Mexico (enchiladas) and more.
People’s Choice went to Jessica Bernardi for her Italian carbonara.
Judges’ Choice went to Momina Khurram for her Pakistani chicken tikka masala.
Judges were: Spokesman-Review columnist Audrey Alfaro; Alan Jacob, associate director for Whitworth Housing; and members of the Whitworth Health Education Action Team, or HEAT.
The event was organized by the Office of Student Diversity, Equity & Inclusion as well as Whitworth Dining-Sodexo.
