The Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness will lead a hike on Black Friday as part of the national OptOutside movement started by REI four years ago.

The Sandpoint-based group will lead a hike up Star Peak Trail No. 999.

“It’s not a ‘destination’ kind of hike,” FSPW program coordinator Sandy Compton said in a news release. “It’s just a good excuse to get outside and enjoy a day with friends in a beautiful place instead of fighting for a parking space.”
