Washington State soccer comes up short in NCAA Tournament second-round loss to Georgetown

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Meaghan Nally scored in the 10th minute and the Georgetown defense did the rest as the top-seeded Hoyas earned a 1-0 women’s soccer victory over Washington State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday at George Washington University.

Georgetown (19-0-3) advances to the round of 16 on Sunday against fourth-seeded Duke. Washington State finishes the season 13-6-1.

The Cougars managed just five total shots and four on goal against the Hoyas, while Georgetown finished with 13 shots.

WSU keeper Rachel Thompson had five saves.

The Washington State playmaking duo of Morgan Weaver (13 goals) and Maddy Haro (15 assists) both finished with one shot.
