Gonzaga women’s basketball adds Kayleigh, Kaylynne Truong in 2019 recruiting class

Gonzaga women’s basketball head coach Lisa Fortier announced the signing of Houston-area standouts Kayleigh and Kaylynne Truong to National Letters of Intent for the 2019-20 season on Wednesday.

“I have loved watching the Truong twins play from the first time I saw them,” Fortier said in a team release. “They have such a great floor presence, and they are so interchangeable with the way they each shoot the ball and find open players at the exact right time. They are great in ball screens, which is a big part of what we do here at Gonzaga.

The 5-foot-8 Kayleigh Truong is described as a dynamic playmaker with the ability to weave through defenders with a solid mid-range game that extends beyond-the-arc.

In her junior season, she helped Jersey Village High to a 30-6 record, while scoring 673 points with 149 rebounds, 58 assists and 87 steals with 21 blocks.

Kaylynne, also 5-8, is described as an agile guard that distributes well in transition with a threatening mid-range game that extends beyond-the-arc.

Along with her sister, Kaylynne is tied for the 27th best point guard in the nation by ESPN.

Kaylynne scored 539 points her junior season to go along with 105 rebounds, 82 assists and 83 steals with 13 blocks.

Gonzaga also signed Australian forward Eliza Hollingsworth. Most recently, the 6-foot-2 Hollingsworth represented the Basketball Australia (BA) Centre of Excellence in the South East Australian Basketball League, where she averaged 4.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest.
