Difference makers: Dezmon Patmon, Gardner Minshew shine in Washington State’s rout of Colorado

Gardner Minshew

Washington State’s fifth-year graduate transfer quarterback was sporadic throwing the ball in the first half, completing just 17-of-33 passes, but Minshew was superb in the second, hitting 18-of-25 to finish 35-of-58 on the game. Minshew threw two touchdown passes and legged out another. He finished with 335 passing yards and another 26 on the ground.

Dezmon Patmon

For the third time this season, the “Z” outside receiver went over the 100-yard receiving mark with eight catches for 103 yards. Patmon caught the first two passes on WSU’s second touchdown drive and a 48-yard gain on a screen play moved the Cougars down to the CU 30-yard line, setting up Minshew’s 10-yard scoring run.

Jahad Woods

Woods was responsible for forcing the third-quarter fumble that led directly to WSU’s second touchdown of the game. The sophomore linebacker stripped Colorado running back Travon McMillian and Peyton Pelluer recovered, giving the offense the ball back on the 32-yard line. Woods finished with a team-high five tackles.
