ITEP agenda

In a recent column about “tax fairness” (“State ranks last in tax fairness,” Oct. 26, 2018), Shawn Vestal described the Institute on Taxation & Economic Policy as “nonpartisan.”

While this may be true, in the sense that ITEP is not directly aligned with a political party, it masks the reality of the left-wing orientation of this think tank.

ITEP has always had a redistributionist agenda, as a glance at the list of its board members might suggest. In addition, its position papers routinely insist that “wealthy” taxpayers are both depriving the government and taking advantage of the downtrodden poor.
