We need Hutchison
“Promises made, promises kept.” That’s what President Trump has done with tax and regulation reductions, as well as judicial appointments. Fortunately, these only required a simple majority vote where Senate approval was needed. However, to pass other promised legislation on immigration and other issues he will need 60 Republican senators’ votes to end Democrats’ filibusters.
In fact, Byron York pertinently discussed “Donald Trump’s mainstream immigration policy” in the Washington Examiner, June 30, 2018, using a recent Harvard-Harris poll done June 24-25. It found an overwhelming 63% of registered voters (66% of Republicans, 63% of Democrats, and 59% of independents) support immigration reform based on Trump’s “four pillars”: 1. Fund barrier security on the U.S.-Mexico border; 2. Give work permits and a path to citizenship to undocumented immigrants brought here by their parents as minor children; 3. End “chain migration” of relatives except a spouse and minor children; 4. Eliminate the diversity visa lottery.
Furthermore, a staggering 84% opposed sanctuary cities. That’s comprised of 94% Republicans, 76% Democrats and 83% independents.
We need 60 Republican senators, including Susan Hutchison, to change the current disastrous “policies.” We need other states to vote in Republican senators. America needs it.
