Key moment
Gonzaga’s lead was 51-50 before an 11-2 spurt gave the Zags some breathing room. Johnathan Williams collected a rebound on a missed free throw and scored inside. He followed with a 3-pointer and Rui Hachimura and Corey Kispert added dunks as GU’s lead grew to 62-52.
Offensive player of the game
Williams scored 13 of his 16 points in the second half, including four free throws that helped Gonzaga take a 78-73 lead with 2:01 remaining. Williams made 5 of 7 field-goal attempts and 5 of 6 free throws to share team-high scoring honors with Killian Tillie.
Defensive player of the game
Williams came up big in the closing minutes with a couple of blocked shots. The 6-foot-9 forward swatted Frankie Ferrari’s layup attempt and then made up a ton of ground to reject Jordan Ratinho at the rim to help the Zags hold off USF.
