Boys basketball: Connor Whitney scores 19 points and West Valley beats Cheney

Connor Whitney scored 19 points and West Valley (5-1 GNL) beat visiting Cheney (2-4) 65-56 on Tuesday in a Great Northern League game.

The Eagles entered play rated No. 7 in state 2A the latest WIAA RPI.

Nicolas Berman led Cheney with 17 points.

Clarkston 53, East Valley 44: Tru Allen scored 23 points and the Bantams (2-3 GNL) edged the visiting Knights (0-5). Tyrell Brown led the Knights with 22.

Northeast 1A

Freeman 58, Deer Park 37: Michael Coumont scored 16 points and the Scotties (7-0 NEA) – rated No. 3 in state 1A – defeated the visiting Stags (2-5). Isaac Berglund led Deer Park with 20 points.

Newport 79, Colville 43: Danny Bradbury scored 18 points and the No. 7 Grizzlies (5-1 NEA) defeated the host Indians (1-5). Ty Sandaine paced Colville with nine points.

Chewelah 84, Riverside 60: Elan Krausz scored 26 points and the Cougars (4-2 NEA) downed the visiting Rams (0-6). Cooper Bauer led the Rams with 13 points.

Lakeside (WA) 79, Medical Lake 70: Tristan Cox scored 20 points and the Eagles (4-2 NEA) defeated the visiting Cardinals (3-4). Garren Garza led Medical Lake with 20 points.

Northeast 2B

St. George’s 60, Liberty 54: Erik Farias scored 14 points and the No. 3 Dragons (9-0 NE2B) defeated the visiting seventh-rated Lancers (5-2). Thomas Redder led Liberty with 14 points.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 45, Davenport 42: Austin Thompson had 16 points and the Broncos (5-3 NE2B) beat the visiting Gorillas (4-5). Jay Burt scored 13 points for Davenport.

Northeast 1B

Odessa 62, Wellpinit 40: Ryan Moffet scored 24 points and the Tigers (7-0 NE1B) – rated fourth in state 1B – beat the visiting No. 8 Redskins (5-3). Tyrone Dorris led Wellpinit with 18 points.

Cusick 72, Inchelium 34: Kobe Seynour scored 16 points and the visiting Panthers (8-1) beat the Hornets (0-8). Robert McKinney led Inchelium with 14 points.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 77, Valley Christian 36: Payton Neilsen scored 28 points and the visiting No. 9 Warriors (6-1 NE1B) defeated the Panthers (3-5). David Karapetr led Valley Christian with 10 points. The Warriors outrebounded the Panthers 43-19.

Selkirk 67, Republic 45: Justin Krabbenhoft scored 19 points and the Rangers (5-3 NE1B) rolled by the visiting Tigers (3-5). Joe Koepke led the Tigers with 22.

Northport 55, Curlew 48: Kade Middlesworth scored 17 points and the visiting Mustangs (3-6 NE1B) outlasted the Cougars (1-9). Justin Hanks led the Cougars with 16.

Tekoa-Rosalia 52, St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse 24: Craig Mueller tallied 13 points with 10 rebounds and the Timberwolves defeated the visiting Eagles. Ty Harder paced the Eagles with 13 points.

Pomeroy 56, Dayton 25: Devon Caruso scored 14 points and the visiting Pirates defeated the Bulldogs. Junior Helm led Dayton with 10 points.

Wenatchee 56, Lewiston 50: Darius Carlson scored 16 points and the Panthers beat the visiting Bengals. McKenzie led Lewiston with 11 points.
