One dead, two injured in snow-related crash on Interstate 90

A 45-year-old woman died Wednesday in a vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 90.

At about 8:30 a.m., troopers reported that a car had rolled over near mile post 260, about 20 miles west of Spokane, trapping at least one person underneath. By 9 a.m., the driver of the car, Tamara L. Wilkins of Yakima, was pronounced dead.

The car’s two passengers were transported to a Spokane hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, said Trooper Jeff Sevigney, WSP spokesman.

Sevigney said the car was attempting to pass another vehicle when it lost control and left the roadway. It rolled before coming to a rest on its top.

Sevigney said the driver was going too fast for conditions.

The roadway was not blocked, though troopers closed the right lane to investigate. Troopers will be on scene for several hours.
