Reducing abortions

In response to Helen Garrett’s letter (“What drives Christian voters”) published Dec.15.

People who oppose abortion may want to pay attention to the decrease in abortion rates over the last few years. Available health insurance for new moms, birth control, sex education and athletic opportunities in school have all been shown to markedly decrease both abortion rates and unplanned pregnancies. These are all due to legislation and programs proposed and passed by Democrats.

I hate to see good people hold their noses and vote for an amoral man like Trump because they have been led to believe he cares about abortion. He doesn’t – it’s a cynical ploy to get votes, nothing more.

We all need to work together to continue to decrease unplanned pregnancies and to support those young women who are pregnant to stay healthy and have healthy babies.
