It’s (black) icy out there!

As long as I have lived here, winter brings black ice. And deaths, like in today’s collision between two semis on I 90 west of Spokane.

The WSDOT web site is blank on this condition until something happens. At least now there are warnings on the National Weather Service web page for freezing fog.

I think the powers that be in Spokane need to get on WSDOT to improve their website for travel in Eastern Washington. The 511 contact is also less than helpful.

Icing also occurs in city streets and sidewalks. Today was especially treacherous as the frost was almost invisible (i.e., black ice). This phenomenon happens when there is freezing fog. When you scrape off your windows in the morning, be careful out there, folks! This is the land of ice and fog in the winter!
