Woman accused of stabbing boyfriend with broken knife in Logan neighborhood

Spokane police said a woman was arrested Tuesday night after she stabbed her boyfriend and locked herself in a home with four small children.

The boyfriend called police at about 10:15 p.m. to report that Heather M. Fourstar, 37, had stabbed him in a home on Sinto Avenue near Ruby Street, according to a news release.

The boyfriend told responding officers that Fourstar had been drinking and started an argument before lunging at him with a kitchen knife. Police said he had grabbed Fourstar’s hand in an attempt to stop the attack, somehow snapping the blade in half.

After the boyfriend let go, police said, Fourstar stabbed him in the abdomen with the broken knife, and he ran outside.

Police said they had probable cause to arrest Fourstar for second-degree domestic assault, as well as fourth-degree domestic assault from a previous incident, but she refused to exit the home.

Officers obtained a search warrant, entered the home and arrested Fourstar around midnight, according to the news release. The children were not physically harmed.

Police said the boyfriend received medical treatment for his injuries.
