Bobcats’ Season Ends With 52-10 Playoff Loss to NDSU

Vince Bagby SWX
The Montana State football team knew they were up against a juggernaut over the weekend battling at top-ranked North Dakota State on Saturday, and things went exactly as most expected inside the Fargo Dome. It was actually a terrific start for the Cats, as a 71-yard completion from Troy Andersen to Kevin Kassis on the first play from scrimmage led to a field goal and a 3-0 lead for Montana State. However that lead would not last long at all. It was all Bison most of the afternoon. Easton Stick, Lance Dunn and the entire NDSU team hit the trail hard and the stampede couldn’t be stopped. North Dakota State rallied for 38 quick unanswered points to round out the first half of the game. The bison had three different running backs eclipse 100 yards on the ground en route to a final score of 52-10 to end the Bobcats’ season. Despite the humbling defeat, it was ultimately a successful year it was for the Bobcats (8-5) as they defeated the Grizzlies for the third year in a row and won a playoff game for the first time in six years.
