Best candidates are Christian
Christianity and socialism are incompatible. The Christian believes that each of us is unique in all time. Never before, now, or after in the creation will there be someone exactly like you. You are special and valued. Socialism, on the other hand, elevates the state above the individual. Uniqueness is lost in the system and numbers.
Some say that Jesus was a Socialist. That is absolutely untrue. They might cite the time he fed the multitudes and his having compassion for the poor. If Jesus were a Socialist he would have called upon Rome to feed or care for the needy.
Christianity, and in particular Catholicism, teach that individual acts of charity are the most valuable, just as Jesus did.
Christians value life from conception to a natural death. The secular progressive promotes abortion and assisted suicide. Direct contradictions.
Over the last century socialism has been responsible for the murder of civilians. That and the many failed models we have witnessed recently should give us pause.
When listening to the various candidates and when entering the poll booths this election season, it might be worth your while to consider these things. Capitalism, coupled with Christian principles, works best.
