Around the remote: ‘Star Trek’ reboot gets broadcast premiere before moving online
DON’T MISS: “Star Trek: Discovery” – Set 10 years before Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock launched their mission to boldly go where no man had gone before, this new space saga is an ambitious endeavor to reboot the beloved sci-fi franchise on TV after a 12-year absence. With a cast led by Sonequa Martin-Green as First Officer Michael Burnham, the story features a new ship, new characters and new missions. After the first episode premieres on broadcast television, the entire series will move exclusively to the CBS All Access digital subscription platform. 8:30 p.m. Sunday, CBS.

SUNDAY: “Legion of Brothers” is a compelling documentary that explores the secret U.S. forces mission that initiated U.S. operations in Afghanistan just weeks after the 9/11 attacks. The film will be presented with limited commercial interruption. 9 p.m., CNN.
MONDAY: “The Big Bang Theory” returns to resolve that big cliffhanger from last season: Will Amy say “yes” to Sheldon’s proposal? Immediately following the season opener is the premiere of the spin-off series “Young Sheldon.” 8 p.m., CBS.
MONDAY: Freddie Highmore (“Bates Motel”) stars in “The Good Doctor.” He plays a brilliant young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome who joins a prestigious hospital where he faces many skeptics. 10 p.m., ABC.
TUESDAY: As “NCIS” returns for its 15th season, it has been two months since Gibbs and McGee were last seen fighting some rebels in a Paraguay jungle. Isn’t it about time that someone goes over there and saves them? 8 p.m., CBS.
WEDNESDAY: “Empire” and “Star” return with a special crossover event that has Carlotta (Queen Latifah) of “Star” heading to “Empire” to connect with Cookie (Taraji P. Henson). Later, Cookie’s son Jamal (Jussie Smollett) pops up on “Star.” 8 p.m., Fox.
WEDNESDAY: “Survivor” returns for its 35th season with a theme of “Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers” as 18 castaways get divided into three groups based on how they’re perceived by others. Doesn’t really matter: Soon they’ll all be snakes. 8 p.m., CBS.
THURSDAY: As Season 4 of “Gotham” begins, Gordon is worried that Jonathan Crane (guest star Charlie Tahan) is still alive and back in town, when The Scarecrow’s signature MO is used in a series of robberies. 8 p.m., Fox.
FRIDAY: Following the highly publicized exits of Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park, “Hawaii Five-0” will have a bit of a different look. Among the newcomers is Meaghan Rath, who joins the task force as Tani Rey in tonight’s season opener. 9 p.m., CBS.
SATURDAY: “Harvest Love” is a feel-good TV movie about a widowed mom who visits her family’s pear orchard in hopes of taking a break from her hectic life. Of course, she meets a handsome guy while there. 9 p.m., Hallmark.
