Whitworth men win, Idaho women lose in soccer
The Whitworth Pirates notched back-to-back second-half goals to rally for a 2-1 nonconference men’s soccer victory over North Park in Chicago on Monday.
Carel Kuzona staked North Park (1-1) to a 1-0 lead 3:11 into the second half, but the Pirates (1-2) got goals from Moi Diaz – with an assist from Austin Cassity – at the 55:11 mark and Micah Weller at 64:28 – with an assist from Eric Espinoza – to pull out the win.
Whitworth goalkeeper Jesus Nunez stopped three of four shots on goal on the afternoon.
North Park outshot Whitworth 18-10 for the match.
Women’s soccer
Leahi Manthei scored four goals to propel Seattle University (3-2) to a 5-3 nonconference victory over the Idaho Vandals (2-3-1) in Moscow.
Goals by Kelly Dopke and Morgan Crosby gave Idaho a 2-0 lead, but the Redhawks scored four unanswered goals to take control.
Claire Johnson also tallied a goal for the Vandals.
