Luke Falk breaks Washington State record for career touchdown passes

PULLMAN – Senior quarterback Luke Falk broke the Washington State record for career touchdown passes – and he did it with panache.

Falk was a perfect 18 of 18 on WSU’s first two drives. He capped the Cougars’ first drive with a shovel pass to James Williams, who raced 11 yards for the touchdown.

Falk was back at it on the second possession, firing a 6-yard scoring strike to Tavares Martin Jr. for the 91st TD of his career, one more than previous record-holder Connor Halliday.

Falk finished with three touchdown passes. He’s fifth in Pac-12 history with 92 touchdowns. No. 4 Jared Goff had 96 touchdown passes.

Falk’s also moved past Alex Brink into second on WSU’s career passing yards list. Falk has 11,204 career yards, trailing Halliday’s 11,304.

Falk made a run at the Pac-12 record for completions to start a game. He connected on 20 in a row before misfiring on his first attempt of the second half. Former Cal quarterback Aaron Rodgers holds the record with 24.
