West Valley Middle School students show leadership

In an effort to display school leadership, Westwood Middle School Wolverine Leadership students recently collected the recycling for their entire school and later made a sweep of the outside perimeters to pick up all of the garbage. Since August, they also assisted in the first day assembly, and have been planning a “Fund Run Kick-Off Assembly.”

Mt. Spokane grads named AP Scholars

Mt. Spokane High School graduates Jinna Brim, Peter Duff and Joseph Roach were named National AP Scholars after receiving outstanding scores on last spring’s Advanced Placement exams.

‘Headless Horseman’ at Medical Lake High

Medical Lake High School will present its production of “The Legend of the Headless Horseman.”

Shows will be in the school auditorium Oct. 20-21 at 7 p.m. and Oct. 22 at 3 p.m.

Tickets are $7 for general admission, $4 for children and seniors, and free for students with ASB.

Student named merit scholar for PSAT score

Medical Lake High School’s Allison Smith has been named a 2018 National Merit Commended Scholar after taking the Preliminary SAT last year.

Approximately 1.6 million students took this test, but only 34,000 were named commended students. According to the district website, Smith has “demonstrated outstanding academic ability.”
