Spokane County sheriff’s deputies are investigating an armed carjacking at the Best Western Plus on South Geiger Boulevard off Interstate 90 early Thursday morning.

Deputies responded to the scene at approximately 5 a.m. where they found the carjacking victim with a gunshot wound.

The incident happened in the hotel and not the parking lot, according to KHQ, which added that this does not appear to be a random incident.

The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of their injuries. Detectives said his injuries were not life-threatening.

The stolen truck was recovered later in the morning within Spokane city limits near the intersection of Second Avenue and Perry Street.

Authorities have not released a description of the suspect, whose whereabouts are not known.
