Girls soccer roundup: Amber Hickman’s two PKs advance Mt. Spokane to 3A state tournament
Amber Hickman scored on a pair of penalty kicks and the visiting Wildcats beat the Suns 2-1 in the District 8 3A second-place game. Mt. Spokane earns the district’s second seed to state and a matchup against Lakeside on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in Seattle.
Chiawana 4, Lewis and Clark 0: The visiting Tigers were eliminated in the District 8 4A third-place game.
Clarkston 2, Ephrata 1: Taylen Wohl scored the game-winning penalty kick and the visiting Bantams beat the Tigers 2-1 after a shootout in a 2A Great Northern League-Central Washington Athletic Conference loser-out crossover game. Clarkston advances to play White River in the first round of states. Kaela Southwick scored in regulation for Clarkston.
Selah 2, East Valley 1: Kaitlin Harvey scored a goal in the 34th minute but the Knights lost to the Vikings 2-1 after a shootout in a 2A GNL-CWAC loser-out crossover at Gonzaga Prep HS.
Cascade 2, Freeman 1: Cascade advanced to the State 1A tournament, eliminating the Scotties in a loser-out Northeast A-Caribou Trail league crossover.
Cashmere 3, Lakeside 1: Cashmere advanced past the Eagles in a loser-out NEA-CTL crossover.
