Gonzaga women lose Emma Wolfram for season with knee injury

Gonzaga women’s basketball coach Lisa Fortier announced on Friday that redshirt senior Emma Wolfram will miss the 2017-18 season with a knee injury, ending her career with the Zags.

Wolfram appeared in 64 games for the Bulldogs, averaging 5.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. She led the team in blocked shots last season with 34 and had 81 in her career.

As a redshirt freshman, Wolfram had a career-high 17 points during an upset second-round win over Oregon State in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.

Wolfram, who will remain with the team throughout the season, graduated last spring with a bachelor’s in human psychology. She’s working toward a master’s in organizational leadership.

“Although my career did not end the way I wanted it to, Gonzaga was still an awesome experience,” Wolfram said. “I am so thankful for the fans, coaches and my teammates who have stayed by my side through everything.”

“Not having Emma on the court this year is a huge blow to her and our program,” Fortier said. “She is one of the most talented players to come through Gonzaga and was poised for a huge season.”
