Woman seriously injured in crash with Spokane police car

An SUV struck a Spokane police car early Sunday, seriously injuring a passenger in the SUV.
The police officer was heading north of Ruby Street responding to a report of shots fired about 4 a.m. when the SUV headed east on Mission struck the police car.
Investigators say the SUV failed to stop, Spokane police said in a news release. At the time, the light at Mission for northbound cars on Ruby was flashing yellow. The light for cars on Mission was flashing red.
The police officer suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from a local hospital. A passenger in the SUV was ejected and suffered serious injuries not considered life-threatening, police said. She was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the SUV was not injured. Investigators are working to determine if the driver was impaired by drugs or alcohol, police said.
