Prep tennis roundup: Jake Pru and Bridget Calvert win singles titles at 2A district tourney

Pullman’s Jake Pru and Cheney’s Bridget Calvert won singles titles at the District 7 2A tournament on Saturday at WSU.

In doubles, Gregory Arthur/Don Arsenev (Clarkston) and Claire Sinner/Lily Sinner (West Valley) took district titles.

Clarkston’s Ian Best and Halle Berg placed second in singles. Pullman’s doubles teams of Tim Watts/Casey Crow and Jacquie McAleer/Allie Rembert finished second.

All qualified for crossover matches against Central Washington Athletic Conference teams in Ephrata on May 20.

District 7 1A

Joel Caldera-Garcia of Riverside and Courtney Schuh of Colville earned District 7 1A singles titles at Mt. Spokane HS.

Nolan Ng and Josh Stapp of Riverside and Kendra Gady and Krystal Gady of Freeman were doubles champions.

Riverside took the boys district title while Deer Park earned girls district champion. The regional meet is next weekend at Mead HS.

Other boys singles qualifiers for regionals were Noah Ray (Medical Lake, second place), Andy Simmerman (Freeman, third) and Tyson Lim (Deer Park, fourth). Other girls singles qualifiers were Stephanie Heglin (Deer Park, second), Eden Daniels (Deer Park, third) and Elizabeth Grubb (Chewelah, fourth).

Other boys doubles qualifiers were Earl Howard III and Keith Justice (Chewelah, second), Trevor Nilles and Daniel Miller (Medical Lake, third) and Tom Schuler and David Rothe (Lakeside, fourth).

Other girls doubles qualifiers were Sonja Marikas and Taylor More (Lakeside, second), Lyndsey Cazier and Sydney Cazier (Medical Lake, third) and Izabella Seemann and ReeAnne Thompson (Colville, fourth).

District 9 1B/2B

Derek Strope of Reardan and Rose Melville of Lind-Ritzville/Sprague earned District 9 titles.

Andrew Jauhiainen and Conner Cremers of St. George’s and Kikyo Sahashi and Emily Boutain of Lind-Rtizville/Sprague were doubles champions.

St. George’s won the boys title while LRS won the Girls team championship.
